Iranian short documentary ‘The Doll’ has been nominated at the IDA Documentary Awards in the US.

Directed by Elaheh Esmaeeli, the short will be vying to receive the best student documentary award in competition with four other films from the US, the UK and Germany.

The 33-minute doc shows how the whole family members of a young girl can have parts in her future and fate. She is only 14 when the family is making decision about marrying her off.

The short doc has already toured various global events, including the Atlanta Film Festival in the US, the International Film Festival of Huesca in Spain, and the kortfilmfestivalen in Norway.

Rezvan Beheshtian, Sahar Abdollahi, Mohammad-Javad Asadi, and Nabiollah Minaee are the main cast members of the flick.

The IDA Documentary Awards is the world's most prestigious event dedicated to the documentary genre, celebrating and honoring the best nonfiction films and programs of the year. It seeks to represent excellence in the documentary field from around the world, by emerging and established docmakers.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for February 5, 2022.
