Cambridge fest showing ‘Spotted Yellow’

Iran’s ‘Spotted Yellow’ is going on screen at the Cambridge Film Festival in the UK.

Iranian short flick ‘Spotted Yellow’ has been going on screen at the 40th edition of the Cambridge Film Festival in the UK.

Directed by Baran Sarmad, the 12-minute film is about Roya, a girl who has a yellow spot on her face.

One day she feels the signs of a real giraffe within and her life starts to change gradually.

“She sees her spots. She hears her voice and feels her,” a tagline for ‘Spotted Yellow’ reads.

According to Sarmad, the flick is about a girl who has a dream and does whatever it takes to achieve the longing.

Shadi Karamroudi is the only actress in the flick.

‘Spotted Yellow’ went on screen at some global events, including the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, the Chicago International Film Festival in the US, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, the Nashville Film Festival in the US, the Glasgow Short Film Festival in Scotland, the Palm Springs International Film Festival in the US, the Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival in the UK, the Iranian Film Festival Cologne (Visions of Iran) in Germany, and the Atlanta Film Festival in the US.

The annual Cambridge Film Festival remains the UK’s third-longest-running film festival.

The event is a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public.

The 2021 edition of the event has been slated for November 18 to 25.
