House of late Persian poet Nima Yushij turns into museum

The newly-restored house of Nima Yushij, the father of modern Persian poetry, in northern Tehran has been turned into museum. 

The museum, which has been open to public since November 13, 2021, also displays the wax figures of contemporary Iranian literary figures Yushij, Sohrab Sepehri, Simin Daneshvar, and Jalal Al-e-Ahmad (from R to L in the attached picture).

Purchased by Tehran Municipality, the house of Yushij, who started a new movement in Persian poetry called new poetry or sometimes called sher-e Nimaee (Nimaic poetry), was officially unveiled on Saturday.

Yushij’s house is situated close to the home of the celebrated couple Al-e-Ahmad and Daneshvar who were novelists and short story writers.

The municipality is set to make a cultural passage that connects the two houses.
