Iranian short ‘Tide’ wins at Fort Lauderdale

Iranian short ‘Tide’ wins award at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale Int’l Film Festival in the US.

Iranian short flick ‘Tide’ has grabbed an award at the 36th edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) in the US.

Sahar Roustaee won the Best Actress - Dramatic Performance in a Foreign Language Short award for playing in the short film.

Directed and written by Pedram Dadkhah, ‘Tide’ has also been selected to compete at the 14th Jaipur International Film Festival in India.

Nima Zeyn-al-Abedini and Sahar Roustaee are the cast members of the short film.

“Amirali is on his way home, when he sees a familiar girl. He knows the girl, but she doesn’t remember him. Because of a misunderstanding, they stay together for a night on the beach. Amirali wakes up at sunrise and he sees no clue of the girl,” a synopsis to the short reads.

The latest edition of the FLIFF screened more than 200 films, from more than 40 countries, including the UK, Italy, France, Hungary, Spain, Cyprus, Australia, and Canada.

The 2021 edition of the fest was held on November 5-21.
