Award-winning Iranian movie ‘When the Moon Was Full’ has been screened at the SAMA International Film Festival in Sweden.

Narges Abyar’s film vied at the main competition section of the 2021 edition of the event.

The movie, produced by Mohammad-Hossein Qasemi, is an award-winning movie that recounts the true love story of Abdul-Hamid Rigi, a member of the Jundallah terrorist group.

Rigi marries Faezeh Mansouri, a woman from Tehran. Faezeh is forced to leave her homeland along with her brother, Shahab, to live in Pakistan where they find themselves involved in the Jundallah rebel activities.

Elnaz Shakerdoust, Shabnam Moqaddami, Houtan Shakiba, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee, Armin Rahimian, Pedram Sharifi, and Banipal Shomoun are on the cast list.

The purpose of the SAMA International Film Festival is to display and present the works of filmmakers from Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries which experience less focus on their works in Nordic festivals.

The festival also focuses on films by European and American filmmakers about Asia and presents their works of documentaries and long cinematic films.

The festival is based on values such as freedom of expression, democracy, gender equality, attention to the rights of children and the appreciation of the positive values in life.

The 12th edition of the festival launched on November 25-28, 2021, in Stockholm.
