Iranian ‘Sea Boys’ to compete at Dhaka filmfest

Iranian movie ‘Sea Boys’ has been selected to compete at the 20th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

Directed by Afshin Hashemi, ‘Sea Boys’ is a social drama that takes place in south of Iran; a melodrama starring teenage actors of the south along with prominent actors in cinema and television.

The cast list of the movie includes Mona Farjad, Yasin Habibpour, Payam Amir-Abdollahian, Mahnoush Sheikhi, Hassan Khaldoun, Ali Bahri, Aisan Hadad and the director.

The film has previously participated in cinematic events such as the Shanghai International Film Festival in China and the Cinekid ScreeningClub in the Netherlands.

The website of the Dhaka Film Festival states the “DIFF is a bold expression of resistance against the decadence, vulgarity and cheap commercialism that pervades the mainstream Bangladesh film industry”.

The 20th edition of the event is scheduled for January 15-23, 2022.
