Iran 'A Hero’ announced eligible for Oscar race

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces Iran’s ‘A Hero’ a movie eligible for consideration in the International Feature Film category for Oscars 2022.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced Iran’s ‘A Hero’ by Asghar Farhadi a feature film eligible for consideration in the International Feature Film category for the 94th Academy Awards.    

Fifteen films will be shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category.

The shortlist will be declared on December 21, 2021.

‘A Hero’ is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

Farhadi’s feature was also awarded the Best Foreign Language Film and the Best Original Screenplay by the National Board of Review in the United States.

Nominations for the 2022 edition of the Academy Awards will be announced on February 8 and the Oscars ceremony will be held on March 27.
