Let’s get updated with the latest events in Iranian art of cinema during the past week.

Iranian feature ‘Hot Scent’ grabbed award at the 2021 Efebo d’oro- International Cinema and Narrative Award in Italy. In its third international screening, Ali Ebrahimi’s latest directorial experience received the special jury award at the 43rd edition of the event.

Co-produced by Mohammad Athari and Amir-Shahab Razavian, ‘Hot Scent’ is the story of generation gap. In the movie, Maryam, a 20 year old girl has strict parents. One night after returning home late and spending time with her friend, she is forced to stay overnight at a friend’s place, trying to hide the fact from her father. But now she is also forced to be thrown into the lives of strangers.

Iranian movie ‘After the Incident’ won award at the International Children’s Rights Film Festival in Turkey. Shahab Hosseini’s latest film grabbed the best feature length movie award at the 2021 edition of the event.

Directed by Pourya Heydari Oreh, the all-star cast movie is about a child’s wish to score a goal against Esteghlal football club, with a number of prominent footballers also appearing in the film.

The Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in the US, and the Ljubljana International Film Festival in Slovenia have separately awarded Iranian movie ‘Hit the Road’.

Written and directed by Panah Panahi, the feature film follows a chaotic, tender family that is on a road trip across a rugged landscape and fussing over the sick dog and getting on each other’s nerves. Only the mysterious older brother is quiet.
