Palm Springs to screen Asghar Farhadi’s film

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ secures spot on lineup for the Palm Springs Film Festival in the US.

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ by Asghar Farhadi has secured a spot on the lineup for the 2022 edition of the Palm Springs Film Festival (PSIFF) in the US.

The movie will be screened at the “Award Buzz – Best International Feature Film Submissions” category of the 33rd edition of the PSIFF.

‘A Hero’ is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The Iranian movie is announced among the feature films eligible for consideration at the International Feature Film category of the 94th Academy Awards.   

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

Farhadi’s movie was also awarded the Best Foreign Language Film and the Best Original Screenplay by the National Board of Review in the US.

The 33rd edition of the PSIFF will open on January 7, 2022, and run until January 16.
