Iranian feature film ‘Killing the Eunuch Khan’ has made its way to the Slamdance Film Festival in the US.

Iranian feature film ‘Killing the Eunuch Khan’ has made its way to the Slamdance Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Abed Abest, the film will vie at the main competition section of the 28th edition of the event.

‘Killing the Eunuch Khan’ will compete with five other films from the US, Germany, Australia and Canada.

The film, which is Abest’s second feature film, themes upon Iran-Iraq war.

Variety publication describes the movie as, “a meditation on the cycles of violence and war, and their infectious qualities wherein clean, architectural sets are awash with rivers of blood, as historical grievances are played back like excerpts from a documentary.”

The annually-held Slamdance Film Festival provides a space for filmmakers, festival programmers and audience members to meet each other and to recognize the next generation of cinema talent.

The festival’s official website states, “The Slamdance Film Festival is a showcase for raw and innovative filmmaking that lives and bleeds by its mantra: By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers”.

The 28th edition of the event was held on January 20-30, 2022.
