The second edition of the International Short Film Internet Festival “Diogenes 2021” in Georgia awarded three flicks from Iran.
Directed by Yasser Talebi, the 15-minute ‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ won the jury award. ‘Miss Ronaldo’ directed by Kioumars Mohammad-Chenari received a diploma of honor. And the 12-minute ‘A Trivial Thing’, directed by Seyyed-Morteza Sabz-Qaba, took the Serenade award home.
Iranian short film ‘Pass’ won an award at the Down East Flick Fest in the US. The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Pass’ won the Founders’ Award Drama Short Film at the seventh edition of the event.
Written and directed by Elika Abdollahi, the film revolves around a poor woman and shows that not everyone is trustworthy.
World-class Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ is nominated at the Golden Globe Awards. Farhadi’s fourth movie is nominated by the prestigious award ceremony for Best Foreign Language Film, as the only film from the Middle East. The film will compete with Russian ‘Compartment No. 6’, ‘Drive My Car’ from Japan, Italian ‘The Hand of God’ and Spanish ‘Parallel Mothers’.
‘A Hero’ is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.
