Iranian actress Zahra Aqapour wins award at Silent River fest

Iranian actress Zahra Aqapour wins at the 2021 Silent River Film Festival in the US.

Short film ‘World Cup’, directed and written by Maryam Khodabakhsh, has won an award at the tenth edition of the Silent River Film Festival in California, the US.

The Best Actress Award of the festival was bestowed to Zahra Aqapour for her astonishing role in ‘World Cup’.

Aqapour has previously taken part in many theater plays and short films and won several awards in Iranian festivals.

‘World Club’ is the story of a couple who plan to immigrate and their dream is coming true. But just when they think that they are fulfilling their wish, some secrete reveals.

Other actors of the short film are Ali Tabe Emam and Kian Zarei.

Founded in 2011 by writer and filmmaker Kalpna Singh-Chitnis, the Silent River Film Festival (SRFF) is known as a premier platform for independent filmmakers worldwide.

The 2021 edition of the festival was held on September 24- October 3.
