New Filmmakers New York to host Iranian ‘Hole’

Iranian ‘Hole’ is to compete at the 2022 New Filmmakers New York filmfest in the US.

Iranian short flick ‘Hole’ has been selected to compete at the 25th edition of the New Filmmakers New York Film Festival (NFNYFF) in the US.

Directed by Amir Roueeni, the short film depicts an odd situation in a malfunctioning mortuary of a graveyard.

The failure in the mortuary’s function has resulted in the stinking of the corpses.

The families of the deceased have to bury the corpses but a 10-year-old boy is determined to keep his late mother’s body.

Also written by Roueeni, the short’s cast list includes Amirali Roueeni, Nazanin Karimi, and Davoud Zarchi.

The short film has previously participated in the International Film Festival ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA in Poland, where it grabbed the Best Short Film award.

According to the official website of the NFNYFF, “the New Filmmakers Series began in 1998 and over the past twenty-one years has screened over 1000 feature and 4,000 short films”.

The upcoming edition of the festival will be held on January 11-February 29, 2022.
