Directed and produced by Farzin Nobarani, the flick succeeded to grab the best costume award at the 2021 Brazil festival.
‘The Phoenix’ was also nominated in 4 categories of the Brazil New Visions festival, including the best short film, best director, best actor in a leading role as well as the best makeup.
“Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it can only be transformed from one form to another,” reads as a brief synopsis of the flick.
Also written by Nobarani, the cast list of the short includes Manouchehr Alipour, Melina Qadimi, Fariborz Shahkarami, Kourosh Kia, Atefeh Oranipour, Shabnam Eskandari, Azadeh Akbari, Mojgan Aqadavoudian, and Kiana Rahmani.
On a side note to the film, Nobarani says ‘The Phoenix’ depicts people’s everyday life and aims to focus on hope.
Nobarani’s ‘The Phoenix’ is inspired by Albert Camus’ works.
‘The Phoenix’ is also the recipient of the Award of Excellence (Special Jury Mention) at the 2021 Indie Short Fest – Los Angeles International Film Festival in the US.
The list of the other accolades grabbed by Nobarani include the best film award at the 2020 FICUFP - Ufology and Paranormal Phenomena International Film Festival in Argentina as well as at the Iranian Film Festival (IFF) - San Francisco.
The short film also appeared at the 2021 Green Mountain Film International Festival in the US, the 2021 Dreamer's Short Film Festival in Romania and the 37th Tehran Short Film Festival.
The Brazil New Visions Film Festival is an international monthly film competition.
“The BNVIFF is an awards program for short and feature films, devoted to supporting filmmakers around the globe by recognizing excellence in filmmaking,” writes the official website of the event.
The 2021 event was held on December 19-20.
