Big Sky filmfest to screen Iran’s ‘Parizad’

Iranian ‘Parizad’ is to compete at the Big Sky Doc filmfest in the US.

Iranian short flick ‘Parizad’ has been scheduled to be showcased at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (BSDFF) in the US.

Directed by Mehdi Imani-Shahmiri, the short doc will be on screen at the main competition section of the 19th edition of the US fest.

‘Parizad’ has a narrative look towards one of the handicrafts of the women in Chashm Village of Semnan Province.

Golich is a type of Kilim-a type hand-woven floor covering- that is only made in Chashm. The mothers and grandmothers of the village tell some beautiful tales and stories about the art.

The film is about Aunt Keshvar, a lonely rural woman who weaves Golich. She shares information about the role of Golich in the daily life of the villagers and legends about her homeland.

‘Parizad’ has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in the US and the Festival of Nations in Australia, where it won the best documentary award.

The BSDFF is the premier venue for non-fiction film in the American West. It offers an ideal setting for filmmakers to premiere new work and develop lasting relationships with fellow filmmakers and the industry.

The BSDFF is a top-100 rated festival on FilmFreeway and is an Academy Award qualifying festival for short documentaries.

The annual 10-day event takes place each February in downtown Missoula, Montana.

The 2022 edition of the event, set to take place both in-person and online, is slated for February 18-27.
