Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ grabs 3 awards at the Palm Springs Int'l Film Festival in the US.

Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ has grabbed three awards at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in the US.

The gala had canceled the 2022 edition of the event, which was scheduled for January 6-17, over Omicron variant surge, but it announced this year’s juried award winners on Wednesday, with ‘A Hero’ winning big.

Written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, ‘A Hero’ was awarded the Mozaik Bridging the Borders Award.

It also brought Amir Jadidi the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Actor in an International Feature Film, while Farhadi earned the FIPRESCI Prize for International Screenplay.

Farhadi's feature is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

Besides Jadidi, the movie is starring Mohsen Tanabandeh and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France.

It is also shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.
