Made by Keivan Majidi, the story of the Iranian drama is set in a remote village in the rocky mountains of Kordestan Province, where everyone is in love with football, but there is no flat ground to play the game.
The children decide to climb up the nearby mountain in order to find somewhere to play football.
It’s an uphill battle. The village is located in a hilly mountain region and the only place that could be turned into a playing field is on top of a mountain. Undaunted, the boys and girls plow sweat and tears into fulfilling their ardent wish.
Hima is a passionate fan of the Iranian soccer club Esteghlal FC, recognizable by its blue jerseys. She guides viewers through the stirring story as it actually takes place, in the breathtaking landscape of Kordestan.
The documentary mixes reality and fiction. The children act in the doc and retell their own story.”
‘Blue Girl, Football on the Peak’ has gone on screen at some global events, including the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.
