Victoria filmfest to screen Iran’s ‘The Train’

The Victoria filmfest in Canada is to screen Iranian animation ‘The Train’.

The Victoria Film Festival (VFF) in Canada has been scheduled to screen Iranian short animation ‘The Train’.

Directed by Javad Matouri and produced by Mohammad-Amim Hamedani, the 3-minute animation tells the story of some amputee men who have been bewitched to paddle the wheels of a train forward.

They will not feel anything about the hardships of their task as what they see all the time is the heavenly images shown to them on a big screen ahead of them.

‘The Train’ has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Santa Cruz Film Festival in the US, the Athens Animfest in Greece, the MAX3MIN virtual film festival in Italy, and the Tehran International Animation Festival in Iran, where it won the Silver Prize for best visual effects.

The VFF embodies the spirit of the cinematic arts on Vancouver Island. It admires cult films and offers a ritual of initiation for emerging filmmakers to bring unique artistic voices from Canada and around the world to local screens.

The VFF is open to all forms of creative media, but it is deathly allergic to clichés. Every February, it rousts hibernating Victorians and islanders, rolls out the pink carpet for the sheer glam of it, and throws a 10-day film festival across the city.

The 27th edition of the VFF is slated for February 4-13, 2022.
