Picture Tree Int’l purchases rights to ‘Without Her’, debuts trailer

The Berlin-based Picture Tree International (PTI) has purchased the rights to Iranian director Arian Vazirdaftari’s genre crossover feature ‘Without Her’.  

According to a news statement by Variety, the Picture Tree Int’l has planned to introduce the film to buyers during the upcoming European Film Market at its Marriot Hotel in Berlin.

The debut teaser trailer of the film has also been concurrently released.

Co-produced by Houman Seyyedi and Saeed Sadi, ‘Without Her’ is currently in contention at the 40th Iran-based Fajr Film Festival (FFF) in Tehran.

“The storyline of a woman losing her identity dives into the genre tradition of Hitchcock, Polanski and De Palma, while connecting it with the tradition of social realism in Iranian cinema,” Picture Tree Int’l writes.

The flick features Tannaz Tabatabaee, Saber Abar and Shadi Karamroudi.  

Vazirdaftari’s most recent short film ‘Like a Good Kid’ was screened at the Cinéfondation competition at the 70th Cannes Film Festival in 2018.

In 2021, he represented Iran at script station and Berlinale Talent Camp in Germany.

His latest short film ‘Not Yet’ was premiered at the 33rd edition of Tehran Short Film Festival where it succeeded to win the grand prize for the best film at the international section and a second prize at the Art & Experience section.
