Portuguese festival features Iran cinema

The 2017 FEST New Directors | New Films Festival features seven Iranian films in its Flavors of the World section.

The 2017 edition of the Portuguese FEST New Directors | New Films Festival has been scheduled to feature seven Iranian films in its Flavors of the World section.

The Iranian films to be featured include ‘The Little Boy’ by Mona Shahi, ‘Junk Girl’ by Mohammad Zare, ‘Slaughter House’ by Behzad Azadi, ‘Tree’ by Sareh Shafipour, ‘The Role of Each Tone’ by Maryam Farahzadi, ‘Destroyed Memories of a Lake’ by Seyyed-Vahid Hosseini-Nami and ‘The War We Weren’t’ by Azita Agnew.

Flavors of the World, is a non-competitive section dedicated to filmographies of different countries, in order to allow the audience discover new horizons through cinema.

FEST New Directors | New Films Festival is focused on creating a space for up-and-coming filmmakers to show and promote their work, to develop their skills, offering new opportunities, and the chance to develop new audiences for independent cinema.

The festival is divided into several categories, with 2 main award categories, including Short films by filmmakers up to the age of 30 (Silver Lynx competition) and Features by directors on their first or second production (Golden Lynx competition).

The 13th edition of the FEST New Directors | New Films Festival is slated for June 19-26 in the Portuguese city of Espinho.
