Gbeck Future fest to screen ‘My Yellowness, Your Redness’

Iranian short ‘My Yellowness, Your Redness’ is to be screened at the Gbeck Future Film Festival in Canada.

Iranian short film ‘My Yellowness, Your Redness’ is set to be screened at the 2022 Gbeck Future Film Festival in Canada.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘My Yellowness, Your Redness’ by Ahmed Sayyed Kashmiri will participate in the 8th edition of the Canadian festival.

The film is set on the Iranian ancient festival of Chaharshanbe Souri, which is held on the eve of the last Wednesday of the Persian calendar year.

It revolves around a man in bad condition who is seeing people celebrating the festival, chanting "zardi-ye man az toh, sorkhi-ye toh az man” which means “Let my yellowness [paleness] be yours and your redness be mine.”

Earlier reports said ‘The Statue’ by Mohsen Salehifard, ‘Shadow’ by Farzin Taheri, ‘The Choice’ by Mansoureh Radfar, Reza Javanshir’s ‘The Psychopath’, and ‘Naji’ by Hossein Torkjosh will also take part in the Gbeck Future.

The Gbeck Future Film Festival is “a competition of original films created by filmmakers from around the world,” an online submission platform reads.

The festival is “designed to discover and support young filmmakers”.

“Many great young filmmakers have been fostered by this event, and many excellent new films were discovered in the selection process.”

The 8th edition of the Gbeck Future Film Festival will take place on April 8-10, 2022.
