Nigerian Women’s filmfest to show Iranian ‘Doll’

The Women’s Int’l filmfest Nigeria is to host Iranian ‘Doll’.

The Women’s International Film Festival Nigeria (WIFFEN) has been slated to host Iranian short flick ‘Doll’.

Directed by Nasrin Gol-Reihan, the short flick is among the selected titles to hit the screen at the first edition of the Nigerian event.

The film, produced at Baran Cinema School headed by Hossein Shahabi, narrates the story of a little kid, who has been rescued by a female reporter. The save takes place in the war-ravaged city of Aleppo in Syria.

Rezvan Beheshtian, Sahar Abdollahi, Mohammad-Javad Asadi and Nabiollah Minaei-Javid are the cast members of ‘Doll’.

The flick has already taken part in a great amount of global events, including the Standalone Film Festival & Awards in the US, the Female Eye Film Festival in Canada, the Global Voices Film Festival UN Women in the US, and the International Short Film Days Berlin in Germany.

According to the official website of the event, the WIFFEN “is a premier film festival in Nigeria. The goal of the festival is to celebrate women in film around the world. The festival was birthed out of the desire to build a community of female filmmakers supporting and empowering one another to grow and thrive in the global film industry. This will also inspire young girls to aspire to tell their stories through film, without the fear of being looked down on or abused”.

This year’s edition of the fest is set to be held on March 4-5.
