The List of Tangible and Intangible Heritage of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) registers Iran’s Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami mausoleum complex.

The List of Tangible and Intangible Heritage of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has inscribed Iran’s Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami mausoleum complex.

According to the provincial officials, Sheikh Ahmad Jami mausoleum complex, which was previously added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO'S tentative list of world heritage sites, is now on ICESCO’s List of Tangible and Intangible Heritage.

Sheikh Ahmad Jami Mausoleum is one of the beautiful attractions of Torbat-e Jam in Iran’s Khorasan Razavi Province.

Ahmad Jami was a famous Persian scholar, mystic and poet. The mausoleum is in fact a complex which includes several monuments such as a tomb, tombstones, mosque, madrasah and dome.

Some other constructions were also added to Ahmad Jami mausoleum in different eras.

The complex is registered on Iran’s National Heritage List.

The ICESCO is “active in different fields of education, sciences, culture, and communications in Islamic countries in order to support and enhance relationships among the Muslim nations,” writes the official website of the organization.

The headquarters of the organization is located in Rabat, capital of Morocco.

The ICESCO List of Tangible and Intangible Heritage is dedicated to monuments and heritage of the Islamic world, which is different from UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
