ICESCO inscribes 5 Iranian cultural-historical monuments

Iran’s 5 cultural-historical monuments are inscribed on Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Iran’s five cultural-historical monuments have been inscribed on the list of Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

The Secretary-General of National Commission of ICESCO announced the registration via a letter penned to the Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization Ezzatollah Zarghami.

Alamut Castle, Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami mausoleum complex, Bastam Historical Complex, Masouleh Cultural Heritage Base, and Hamedan’s Alavian Dome are the registered monuments.

Alamut Castle is a ruined mountain fortress located in the Alamut region in the province of Qazvin.

Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami mausoleum complex is a collection of religious buildings, mosques, houses and tombstones all around the central tombstone of Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami, Iranian Muslim sufi from Torbat-e Jam, Khorasan.

Bastam historical complex, located near Shahroud in north-central province of Semnan, includes holy shrine of Mohammad Ibn Jafar Sadegh (AS), Bayazid Bastami tomb, Bayazid Monastery, Bayazid Mosque, Eljaito Iwan, Ghazan Dome, Jame Mosque, Kashaneh Tower, and Shahrokhieh School.

The Historical City of Masouleh has an age of eight hundred to a thousand years. The existence of numerous graveyards inner and outside of the city proves its old texture.

Alavian Dome in Hamadan, west of Iran, is located in a garden of the same name. The structure was initially a mosque built by the Alavian family during the Seljuq era.

The ICESCO is a specialized organization that operates under the strict supervision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It is active in the fields of education, science, culture and communication in Islamic countries in line with supporting and strengthening the relations between member states.
