Iranian archeologists have discovered an antique item, dating back to 5,000 years ago, in Jiroft, southeastern province of Kerman.

Following a series of large-scale operations, the ancient cup of soapstone was found with a height of eight centimeters and a diameter of 11 centimeters.

The archeologists believe that the artifact dates back to the Bronze Age.

Jiroft historic site has a root in 4,300 years ago. It was first introduced in 2003 as ‘Ancient Jiroft Civilization’ by Iranian archeologist Yousef Majidzadeh.

The archeological findings of this region, which are mostly cemeteries, indicate that the ancient Iranian inhabitants of the region believed in the life after death. For this very reason, they buried the ancient objects with human bodies.
