US to distribute Fahadi’s two first movies

Two first movies of renowned Iranian director Asghar Farhadi are scheduled to be screened in the US.

American distribution company Film Movement Classics has bought the right for ‘Dancing in the Dust’ and ‘The Beautiful City’ directed by Farhadi.

The film will be screened on online platforms and domestic markets after hitting silver screens.

This cinematic gem is Farhadi’s second feature film ‘The Beautiful City’ which explores the concept of justice through the story of an 18-year-old prisoner named Akbar.

Akbar is awaiting execution for the murder of his friend while his sister works to save his life by trying to persuade the plaintiff to give his consent for clemency.

‘The Beautiful City’ has bagged several awards at various film festivals worldwide, including Golden Peacock and Special Jury Award at Int’l Film Festival of India (IFFI), Grand Prix Award at Warsaw Int’l Film Festival in Poland, FIPRESCI Prize at 2005 Split Film Festival in Croatia and Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Sound Mixing at 2004 Fajr Film Festival in Iran. 

‘Dancing in the Dust’ is the story of a young twenty two years old boy who meets Reyhanh on a bus and marries her.

But unpleasant rumors about Reyhaneh’s mother makes him to divorce his wife.

Faramarz Gharibian, Yousof Khodaparast, Baran Kosari, Mitra Tabrizi and Nobar Ghanbarian star in the film.
