Iranian doc ‘Peace Blood’ to vie at Riga Pasaules filmfest

Iranian documentary ‘Peace Blood’ has been scheduled to take part in the 9th edition of the Riga Pasaules Film Festival (RPFF) in Latvia.

Directed by Hamid-Reza Maqsoudi and produced by Ata Panahi, the documentary tells the story of Haj-Abbas Arabi who has spent his life voluntarily for many years to gain forgiveness from the victim's family for the convicts who have been sentenced to execution by the judiciary in Kermanshah in west of Iran as well as other cities across the country.

The RPFF focuses on the experiences of reconnection and renewal, with a focus on the transformative capacity of cinema and the ways in which film-making encourages practices of commensality.

Its approach is informed by traditions that consider healing as an individual and collective process that seeks to re-establish severed attachments.

The festival offers cinematic stories about cooperation, resilience, regained agency, de-colonial practices, processes of political reconciliation and forgiveness.

The 2022 edition of the RPFF will be held on April 7-10 at Kino Bize in central Riga, Latvia’s capital.
