Each year on the eve of the Persian New Year, also known as Nowruz, many people in Iran head to flower markets with passion to do the shopping.

As Nowruz, an ancient festival that marks the arrival of spring, approaches, demand for flowers increases.

The rise in demand comes as people are decorating their homes to welcome the New Year.

The first day of the solar month of Farvardin, which falls of March 21 this year, marks the beginning of the Persian calendar year.

Iranians mark Nowruz by setting the Haft Seen, a table with seven symbolic items starting with the /s/ sound, including Sabzeh (freshly grown greens), Samanu (a sweet pudding made from germinated wheat), Senjed (a dried fruit), Seeb (apple), Seer (garlic), Somaq (sumac), and Serkeh (vinegar).
