The Afghan city of Herat is to host a joint photo exhibition featuring works by Iranian and Afghan photographers.

The photos will be themed on Nowruz (Persian New Year) to represent a symbol of peace and friendship.

The exhibit is aimed to explore cultural heritage, rituals, and traditions the two nations have in common.

The exhibit, which is set to be held in Iran next year, will kick off on March 27, 2022.

Nowruz, with its Iranian origins, is a two-week-long tradition that has been passed on from generation to generation throughout the last millennium, and is celebrated in many countries including Iran and Afghanistan.

Nowruz is observed in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and some other regional countries.

Despite sharing several commonalities, each place has its own unique way of celebrating the day, with exquisite customs and traditions.
