The holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad is to distribute one and a half million Iftar meals in cooperation with donors and benefactors during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), eighth Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has been carrying out its annual Iftar distribution during Ramadan, serving 40,000 Iftar packages on daily basis among the pilgrims performing evening prayers.

Charitable donors and benefactors have joined to distribute 5,000 Iftar packages at four stations around the holy shrine each night.

Some more 2,000 food portions will be also served in other parts of the city daily during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Preparing and distributing Iftar meals is a longstanding tradition in the holy shrine undertaken annually with people’s charity.
