‘Yadoo’ vying at Indian Smile Int'l fest for Children & Youth

Iranian award-winning film ‘Yadoo’ is vying at the 8th Smile Int'l Film Festival for Children & Youth in India.

Iranian award-winning film ‘Yadoo’ has been contending for the grand prize at the 8th Smile International Film Festival for Children & Youth (SIFFCY) in India.

Mehdi Jafari’s latest directorial experience will be screened at the 2022 edition of the event.

The film screenings will be available on the festival’s online platform, siffcy.org, for viewers on registration.

According to the festival’s organizers, the SIFFCY features more than 50 short films and documentaries made by children from over 30 different countries.

The film tells the story of a family in the city of Abadan during the first days of the 1980-88 Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

The family, a mother and three children, stay in the city while the other families in the neighborhood are leaving.

This is the story of how hard is it to leave a city one has lived there for an age.

The flick has already been screened at the Iranian Film Festival in Switzerland (IFFZ), the 20th Dhaka Int’l Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh and the Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly in France.

"The SIFFCY aims to provide healthy entertainment to children. It supports good cinema for the benefit of children and youth," writes the online submission platform of the event.

The festival has been running virtually in New Delhi from April 24 to 30, 2022.
