Every year in April and mid-May, Meymand flower and rose water festival hosts tourists from Fars and other regions of Iran. During this sweet-smelling festival, tourists have the chance to visit the flower gardens, glass-making and mat-weaving workshops and rituals such as the ancient Persian ritual of rolling babies in roses.
According to the provincial officials, the area under Mohammadi flower (Iranian Damask rose) cultivation in Meymand is 1,600 hectares.
The production of Nastaran (Rosa Canina) flowers in Iran is also unique to the city of Meymand and the area under cultivation of this flower is 300,000 hectares.
Meymand, with 15 industrial factories and more than 110 traditional factories, is the center of rose water production in Iran.
Some 60% of Meymand rose water is exported to the countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf and European countries.
