Iran’s ‘Identibye’ vying at Minneapolis filmfest

The Minneapolis-Saint Paul Int’l filmfest in the US is screening Iran’s ‘Identibye’.

The Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) in the US has been screening Iranian short film ‘Identibye’.

Directed by Sajjad Shahhatami, the 15-minute film is currently on screen at the 41st edition of the US event.

“The protagonist of the story faces a dilemma of choosing between sense and sensibility regarding one’s innermost feelings. He has been judged from the very beginning by the ones closest to him. The fear of these never-ending judgments fills him with doubt and he has to work against the clock to achieve his goal as he knows that one’s true identity is what matters most to them”, a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Identibye’ has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Central Florida Film Festival, the Sonoma International Live and Virtual Film Festival, and the Arkansas Shorts - A Night of Short Film, all in the US.

The film is starring Amir-Hossein Sabbaghan, Nasim Moslemi, Maryam Najafi, and Hanan Azizi.

The MSPIFF is a springtime film event, which started in 1981 as the Rivertown Film Festival.

This year’s edition of the fest, currently underway, has been slated for May 5-19.
