Directed by Maryam Pirband, the short film brought Siavash Kordjan the best editing award of the latest edition of the Cannes Shorts™.
‘Fermysk’ recounts the story of a young pregnant Kurdish girl who survived during a Daesh attack.
She comes out of Kurdistan with a group of refugees without any identification for a reason.
Two American volunteers, Tina and Victor, help her. Victor was a war veteran and does this for people affected by war in order to recover his conscience.
Suddenly something strange happens and they understand why she hides her identification.
The film has had several international screening, including the 1st Olympus Film Festival in the US and the 2018 ASA International Humanitarian Film Festival in Germany
‘Fermysk’ is also the recipient of multiple film awards from some global film events, including the Hollywood Dreamz Int’l Film Festival, the best short film award at the 2018 Borobudur Int’l Film Festival in Indonesia, the MEGAFest Action on Film, and the Int’l Independent Shorts Awards in the US, as well as the 2018 Borobudur Int’l Film Festival in Indonesia.
Pirband has also directed a number of other movies including 'The Belief', 'A Tiny Mistake', 'Hanaii' and 'Dance With Me'.
Pirband received Best Female Director Award at Action On Film Festival for her short movie ‘Silence’ which narrates the story of one day of a deaf woman (mother) who has a hard job; she washes the outside of high buildings on rope. During an ordinary day, passing from each floor to another, she observes some stories and suddenly in front of a floor she saves another woman’s life while she is still on the rope.

The flick is produced by SAM Production Film Company in Los Angeles and went through the post-production stage consulted by Iranian veteran actor Homayoun Asadian in Iran.
The Cannes Shorts™ is a unique film festival located in South of France and it was created by internationally renowned artists and filmmakers as a showcase opportunity for young emerging talents.
Unlike other big festivals, the Cannes Shorts™ is mainly focused on short films of all genres under 40 minutes in length.
The festival was held in the first week of May 2022 and introduced its winners in 23 different categories.
