Harvesting Iranian tea in Gilan Province: Photos

Farmers in the Iranian province of Gilan are harvesting spring tea.

Iranian farmers in northern provinces have been growing tea on their farms, making major producers of tea in the country.

Tea is harvested in spring, summer, and autumn and the time of harvest affects the taste of the product.

Spring tea has a stronger taste than other kinds of tea.

Some 55 thousand families in Mazandaran and Gilan Provinces are now growing tea.

A number of 25 thousand hectares of land are planted with tea in these two provinces and Gilan produces 90 percent of the country’s tea.
