Iran short ‘Nausea’ on way to Zanzibar fest

Iranian short ‘Nausea’ is to vie at the Zanzibar Int’l filmfest in Tanzania.

Iranian short flick ‘Nausea’ has found its way to competition lineup of the 25th edition of the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) in Tanzania.

Directed by Mehrdad Kabiri, the flick will go on screen at the Short Film competition section of the Tanzanian event.

A brief synopsis for ‘Nausea’ reads, “Reza has had a traffic accident and has hurt himself badly. However, the driver’s condition impacts him so much so he withdraws the complaint. His action unravels a secret, which comes to his wife’s knowledge”.

Kabiri told to the media that he came up with the idea of the movie when he learnt about the accidents that were staged with some ulterior motives like swindling money through the feature and short films made so far.

He believed that the story of such movies is incomplete as they miss the events that will happen later after the accidents; therefore, he decided to cover the uncovered part of the narrative.

The film has already taken part in the 38th edition of the Tehran International Short Film Festival.

According to the official website of the event, the ZIFF is an annual filmfest which accepts “some of the most captivating and cutting-edge cinema from Africa and beyond… from world-premiers to local shorts”.

The 25th ZIFF is slated for June 16-26, 2022 in Stonetown, Zanzibar.
