Directed by Fatemeh Gharavi Manjili, the 6-minute short animation will be among the screening titles of the Canadian event’s 33rd edition.
‘The Hand and the Egg’ is the fantastical story of a cheerful little girl goes on a journey with a tiny bird to help find her missing egg. The culprit is a mysterious long hand that reaches everything and has been stealing every bird’s eggs.
The short flick has already been screened at various global events, including the Tracce Cinematografiche filmfest in Italy and the Tehran International Animation Film Festival, where it grabbed the honorary award of the Children and Youth section of the event.
Established in 1989, the SJIWFF is one of the longest-running women’s film festivals globally which supports and promotes women filmmakers around the world.
This year’s edition of the event is slated for October 19-23.
