Veteran actor Ali Nasirian’s retrospective to be held in Paris

Retrospective of veteran Iranian actor Ali Nasirian is set to be held in Paris.

A retrospective of veteran Iranian actor Ali Nasirian has been scheduled to be held in Paris.

The program to pay tribute to the 87-year-old actor will be held on the sidelines of the Iran Cinema Festival (Festival Cinemas d’Iran) in France.

Seven movies, including Daryoush Mehrjouee’s ‘The Cow’ and ‘Mr. Naïve’ (Mr. Gullible), as well as ‘Frosty Roads’ directed by Masoud Jafari-Jozani will be reviewed during the retrospective.

The program also features Ebrahim Hatamikia’s ‘Scent of Joseph’, Mohammad Rasoulof’s ‘Iron Island’ and Homayoun Ghanizadeh’s ‘A Hairy Tale’.

Born in 1935, Nasiriyan began his artistic career as a stage actor in 1952.

He made his cinematic debut with ‘The Cow’ setting foot on the path to becoming one of the most renowned and popular Iranian actors.

He has appeared in numerous movies and series. Among his most notable performances are in the movies ‘Kamal-ol-Molk’, ‘Mirza Nowruz's Shoes’, ‘Captain Khorshid’, ‘Scent of Joseph’, ‘The Silent King’, 'Saturday Hunter', and 'Iran Burger'.

He also played roles in the series 'Heads on Gallows’, ‘Hezar Dastan’, 'The Wolves', 'The Lost Paradise', 'Neighbors', 'Lighter than Darkness', 'Floating in a Bubble', ‘The Forbidden Fruit’, 'Sheikh Baha'ee', 'Mankind's Land', and 'Sparrow's Dream'.

He won a prize for writing the play ‘Nightingale in Love’ in 1957.

In 2002, Nasiriyan was honored as an 'Iranian National Treasure' in Theater and Film.

The official section of the Iran Cinema Festival will screen nine movies, including ‘Leila’s Brothers’ by Saeed Roustaee.

The 2022 edition of the event will take place in Paris on June 22-28.
