Written, produced and directed by Hassan Najmabadi, the short film is among the selected titles to compete at the 12th edition of the Colombian event.

‘Aparat’ is about six teenage boys in a remote village who decide to work in the corrals in order to raise the money they need to rent an 8-mm movie projector from a tour guide.

The cast list of the flick includes Mehdi Qolizadeh, Ebrahim Najmabadi, Emad Mohebbi, Abolfazl Najmabadi, Amir Najmabadi, Amir-Mohammad Najmabadi, Mohammad-Reza Najmabadi, Zari Najmabadi, and Mehdi Rezaee.

The global events where the film has already toured include the Gold Coast Film Festival, the Arlington International Film Festival, and the KIDS First! Film Festival, all in the US, as well as the MikroFAF Film Festival in Serbia, the International Children’s Film Festival – Cinekid Screening Club in the Netherlands, and the Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia.

The FICAIJ is one of the most important windows for exhibiting quality educational and alternative content as well as commercial content for children, adolescents, youth and families in the country and the region.

The fest seeks to encourage the creation, production, exhibition and distribution of quality content for and by children, adolescents and young people in the region, stimulating the leadership of children in all these processes.

This year’s edition of the FICAIJ is slated for July 29- August 26.
