Qurabiya: Popular souvenir of Iran’s Tabriz

Qurabiya is a traditional sweet that is baked in the Iranian city of Tabriz.

Ghorabiye (Ghorabiyeh, Qurabiya) is a traditional sweet that is baked in the Iranian city of Tabriz as one of the souvenirs of East Azerbaijan Province.

The decorative Qurabiyas are Iranian shortbread cookies made with ground blanched almonds, egg whites, sugar, and a pinch of flour.

Most commonly, tourists buy them as convenient Tabriz souvenirs.

These soft and chewy sweet biscuits have an immensely important place in the Iranian culture, especially during wedding ceremonies and Nowruz, the Persian New Year festivity.

Tradition has it that this sweet decorative dessert should be served with freshly brewed tea.

This sweet delicacy is registered on Iran's national heritage list.
