Strike gold on Iran’s Hormoz Island

Gold river on Hormoz Island is one of the most spectacular sights in the Iranian province of Hormozgan.

Despite its name, the river doesn't contain any gold with the name derived from its yellow tint.

Saffron salt in the valleys of Hormoz Island is known as the Gold River.

When it rains in Hormoz, the water flows down from the top of the salt mountains.

The salt crystals stay on the ground when the water evaporates and create this peculiar topography.
