Italy's Film Festival della Lessinia screening Iranian ‘Deer’

The Film Festival della Lessinia in Italy is screening Iranian ‘Deer’.

The 2022 edition of the Film Festival della Lessinia in Italy has been screening Iranian short flick ‘Deer’.

Directed by Hadi Babaeefar, the film is about “a little boy who has to watch helplessly while his sick brother struggles to remain alive”.

“When his parents take him away to relatives, Ehsan sets off for home again through the snowy night to defend his brother against the angel of death,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Deer’ has previously participated in several film festivals, including the 72nd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany, where it won the International Jury Award for Best Short Film in the Generation Kplus category.

Ehsan Bakhshizadeh and Khodadad Bakhshizadeh are among the cast members of Babaeefar's short film.

The Film Festival della Lessinia is the only Italian cinematographic competition dedicated solely to short films, documentaries, and full-length features about the life, history, and traditions of the mountains.

The festival was initiated in 1995 as a video exhibition dedicated to the Veronese mountains.

The 2022 edition of the event has been slated for August 19-28.
