‘Silenced Tree’ wins award at Hamilton New York filmfest

Hamilton New York International Film Festival has awarded ‘Silenced Tree’.

The Hamilton New York International Film Festival has awarded ‘Silenced Tree’.

The Iran-Turkey joint production won the best film award at the 2022 edition of the American event.

A short synopsis of the film reads, “Hayati is a small-town literature teacher and a one hit wonder author who tries helplessly to hold on to his past: his shattering marriage, his sick old mother, a decaying walnut tree and the memory of his father. Instead of moving on with his life and taking control, he passively accepts its blows and is only interested in digging into the past, until his discovery forces him to confront his own weakness and answer the question: is standing idle while witnessing evil being done is just as much of a sin as doing it?”

The Hamilton New York International Film Festival offers attendees the opportunity to view independent features, documentaries, world cinema, and short films.

The festival is dedicated to promoting the arts, supporting community involvement, and providing a destination for filmmakers from around the world to exhibit their work.

The 14th edition of the event was held on July 18-24, 2022.
