63-column mosque: Pinnacle of Iranian architecture

Mojtahed mosque, AKA the 63-Column mosque, is an architectural masterpiece in Iran's Tabriz.

The world's largest covered market in Iran’s Tabriz is one of the few places that has many mosques adorned with unique Iranian-Islamic architectural designs.

One of them is Mojtahed Mosque known as the 63-Column Mosque with a history that dates back to the Seljuk era.

The mosque has a big prayer hall which contains eighty brick domes mounted on sixty three stone pillars.

The surface of this mosque is about one meter lower than the bazaar surface.

The marketeers close their businesses during prayer time and perform their religious duty by attending this religious place and also helping the needy in different ways.

This masterpiece has been registered in the national list of Iran’s monuments.
