Cinema iFilm has highlighted ‘The Eagles’ directed by Samuel Khachikian.

‘The Eagles’ is a 1984-85 film about an Iranian pilot, Yadollah Sharifirad, whose aircraft was hit by Iraqi Air Force during Iraq–Iran war.

The story, written by Abdollah AliKhani and Mohammad-Reza Yousefi, is about the survival of the pilot, based in second tactical airbase of Tabriz, after the crash and how he managed to escape back to Iran.

It also depicts the sacrifices made by the Iranian Air Force at the unset of the Iraq-Iran war.

‘The Eagles’ is considered the first major war movie in Iranian cinema.

It is estimated that 18 percent of Iranian population watched the movie at the time.

Cast list of the movie includes Saeed Rad, Jamshid Hashempour, Zari Boroumand, Shahab Asgari, Reza Rouygari, Morteza Nikkhah, and Behzad Rahimkhani.
