The Big Animation Fest in Russia is to host Iranian short animation ‘Irreversible’.

The 16th Big Animation Festival (BFM) in Russia has been slated to host Iranian short animation ‘Irreversible’.

Directed by Sheyda Kashi, the film will be on screen at the Animation Panorama of Iran program of the Russian fest.

‘Irreversible’ is an 8-minute 2D animation, which took around two years to be produced.

A brief synopsis for the flick reads, “A country has been invaded and occupied by the forces of another country. There only remains one survivor, who, has been trying hard to redefine the alienated meaning of their life”.

The film’s director told the media that her choice of subject for the film has roots in the great impact nostalgia has on people’s lives. She is after explaining the path different individuals will take after their homeland has been colonized and the deep-rooted meaning of their life has been lost.

‘Irreversible’ has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Iranian Film Festival San Francisco in the US, the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain and the Russian SFI Golden Knight International Film Festival, where it won the second top prize of the event.

The BFM is the largest international animation festival in Russia. It will be held in Moscow from October 27 to November 7, 2022.

For the third year in a row, the BFM will be organized in a mixed format - some of the programs can be seen online from anywhere in Russia, and the other part will be shown in Moscow cinemas.
