Iran’s ‘The Statue’ to vie at Girona fest in Spain

The Girona Film Festival in Spain has been slated to screen Iranian short animated flick ‘The Statue’. 

Directed by Mohsen Salehifard, the short flick will go on screen at the main competition section of the 34th edition of the Spanish fest.

‘The Statue’ is about a sculptor who has difficulty in making his statues.

The short flick has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Corti a Ponte Film Festival in Italy, the Khamrubu International Film Festival in India and the Gbeck Future Film Festival in Canada.

It has also succeeded to take home some awards, such as the Best Animated Short at the Snowtown Film Festival in the US and the grand prix at the International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival in Croatia.

The Girona Film Festival aims to give room to emerging filmmaking talents to flourish. The event will host around 400 films, including features, shorts, documentaries and animations.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for November 8-13.
