iFilm website offers musical instruments production

iFilm English website has published a report on a stringed musical instruments production workshop in Qaemshahr.

Mazandaran Province hosts one of the most prolific music instrument making workshops in Iran.

The place practices the production of Persian stringed musical instruments, including tar and dotar.

The instruments are originally made of mulberry wood; however, due to a shortage in the supply of the wood, they tried to introduce other woods into the composition cycle.

The producers have tested many types of wood. In addition to mulberry, they used wood such as walnut, maple, mulch, vane, azad, and beech.

Also, due to the use of different types of wood, they were able to achieve a variety of sounds, which has satisfied the teachers and musicians.

Dotar was one of the common instruments in ancient Iran, which is still common in some areas of the country. This thousand-year-old instrument is played with the fingers.

Tar is a stringed instrument in which the strings vibrate by plucking. It is used in solo and group performances of Iranian instrumental music.
