Iranians celebrating national Father’s Day

People in Iran are observing the national Father’s Day to honor their dads.

Every year, Iranians mark the national Father’s Day and Men’s Day on the 13th day of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, which marks the birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS), the first Shia Imam.

Imam Ali is a cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH].

This year, the auspicious occasion falls on this Saturday.

Many Iranians take this opportunity to honor their fathers, grandfathers and husbands, and give them gifts to thank them.

Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. (Surah Al-Isra - 17:23)

Happy Father’s Day.
