Abolfazl Tajik’s ‘Days of Ignorance’ will be screening in the documentary section of the African film festival, which is due to take place on March 4-11, 2023.
The screening will be also followed by a Q&A session on March 7.
In his 19-minute documentary, Tajik takes us to the lonely world of the 84-year-old Mohammad Ali who is the last survivor of rural felt-maker from Neyshabour city.
The documentary narrates his daily struggles to live and keep the felt-making occupation alive.
Produced by Mehdi Motahar, ‘Days of Ignorance’ has already taken part in a good number of global screening events, nabbing prestigious accolades, including the best documentary film award at the Luna Lumen Film Festival in the US.
The doc also went on screen at the 19th Ischia Film Festival in Italy, the 21st Aporia International Village Film Festival in South Korea, the 37th Tehran International Short Film Festival, the REEL Crafted Film Festival in Canada, the Chicago International Indie Film Festival and the Kinofestival "Light of the World" in Russia.
The long list of the doc's festival appearances also includes the 2022 Festival del cinema Cefalù and the 6th International Folklore Film Festival in India.
‘Days of Ignorance’ is also the recipient of the best film editing award from the BJX, Bajio Int’l Film Festival in Mexico as well as the best documentary award at the 42nd Autumn in Voronet Int’l Film Festival in Romania.
South African International Film Festiva aims “to remind RapidLion film entrants that excellence comes through hard work and ferocious focus and that these qualities can lead to greatness,” writes the online submission platform of the event.
